By road take Interstate 15 to the Dillon South exit # 62 to business route 15  in Dillon. We are located 3 blocks north of the Western Montana University campus. The nearest airports are Butte(60 miles), Bozeman (112 miles), and Idaho Falls (150miles). Dillon has an airport with a paved runway for private planes.

Clothing: The Rocky Mountain West is noted for weather changes throughout the day. Hot and dry to cold and wet throughout the fishing season. Below is a list of items to bring or buy at our fully outfitted fly shop. Call and we will set items aside for your trip.

Waders, NON-CLEATED boots, shorts or wading pants, long-sleeve fishing shirt, polarized sunglasses, rain gear, brimmed hat, under wader wear, warm socks, layering outerwear, extra clothing, gloves

EQUIPMENT:

    RODS, REELS & LINE: 8'6" to 9'6" length 4-6 weights with a floating quality line and reel

    FLIES: Backcountry Angler will help you with your selection upon your arrival. We have all the patterns necessary to fish our waters throughout the season. Conditions vary from day to day and from river to river making prior selection impossible. We use many local patterns. Please see our hatch chart under Montana Fly Fishing Report for an approximation time of specific pattern use.

   TIPPET & LEADERS: We carry a full selection. Sizes will vary dependent on time of year and conditions. 

     FISHING LICENSE: May be purchased online or available in the fly shop upon arrival.
